How to find us

By Road

For Sat-Nav users, please use our postcode DN8 5SX. We have plenty of free parking.

From the east: From M180 Junction 2, turn left on to the A161 south to Belton. Turn right at the mini roundabout and follow the road for approximately 2.5 miles; the Museum is on the right just as you enter Sandtoft village.

All other routes: From M18 junction Junction 5, take the M180 exit towards Scunthorpe. After 0.75 miles take the Junction 1 exit. At the roundabout take the second exit for the A18 towards Crowle and Scunthorpe. After 3.5 miles turn right for Sandtoft. Follow the road for 1.5 miles to Sandtoft village; take care turning left onto the mini roundabout, taking the first exit into Belton Road. The Museum is approximately 0.25 miles on your left.

By Public Transport

Sandtoft is poorly served by public transport. The nearest mainline station is at Doncaster (approximately 10 miles away). There are other stations at Thorne (approximately 6 miles), Crowle (about 5 miles) and Scunthorpe (about 14 miles).

The only public bus service to Sandtoft village is justgo North Lincs which runs out of Scunthorpe on weekdays and Saturdays. Journeys have to be pre-booked and there is no Sunday service. Details can be found on its website,

The nearest regular bus service is from Doncaster to Thorne. Every Saturday the Museum provides a service to connect with it at Thorne Park Gates; click here for details. Alternatively, taxis are available in Thorne.

On those Sundays marked “Free Bus” in the Events Calendar and on Bank Holidays when the Museum is open we run a free bus service to the Museum from Doncaster Interchange. Details can be found here.

Please note that the Museum’s buses are historic vintage vehicles and have step entrances. Our bus services are operated free of charge and are open to all – entry to the Museum is not a condition of carriage.
