Directions to the Trolleybus Museum


By Road

By Car

From the M180 Junction 2 take the A161 towards Gainsborough. After approximately half a mile, at a mini-roundabout, turn right (signposted to the Museum) and follow the road for about 21/2 miles through the village of Belton, past the Sandtoft Airfield (on the left) and continue until reaching the Museum on the right.

Large Vehicles

There is a weight and width limit for vehicles using the above route through the village of Belton. Buses and other large vehicles accessing and departing the Trolleybus Museum should follow the signed HGV route via the A18 and signed to Sandtoft.


For those using a SatNav to locate us, our postcode is DN8 5SX. Be aware of the existence of a weight and width limit on the approach to Sandtoft via the village of Belton.

By Public Transport

Regrettably, the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft is not served directly by public transport.

Rail: The nearest main line railway station is Doncaster (on the East Coast line).

Coach and Bus: Many scheduled coach and local bus services serve Doncaster.

Call Travel South Yorkshire on 01709 515151 or visit for details of scheduled coach, bus and train services into Doncaster.

On Saturdays when we are open ONLY, we operate a FREE bus link from and to Epworth that connects with a scheduled bus service from Doncaster Interchange (which adjoins Doncaster Railway Station). Go to the Open Days at a Glance page to select the Saturday you intend to visit and see the times of the scheduled bus service from Doncaster (fares apply) and our FREE bus link.

On selected Sundays and on Bank Holiday Mondays when we are open, we operate a FREE bus service direct to the Trolleybus Museum from Doncaster Interchange. Commercial flights: Doncaster Robin Hood Airport is the nearest commercial airport. Flight details can be found at . Humberside Airport is also nearby, flight Information is at .

Light aircraft: If traveling by light aircraft you may contact Doncaster 'control' on 122.900Khz to identify yourself prior to getting clearance to land at Sandtoft Aerodrome on 130.425Khz. Sandtoft Aerodrome is approximately half a mile from the Trolleybus Museum. Flight & Landing Information is available on 01427 873676.
